History
BARANGAY MUNTINDILAW … is one of the sixteen (16) barangays of the City of Antipolo. It is the third smallest barangay with 473.11 hectares in terms of land area but is rich in history and interesting stories of the past.
The name of Muntindilaw came from the original phrase “MUNTING DILAO” (munting means little and dilao means yellow), used by Hon. Daniel Garcia (Mayor 1988-1998) who founded Barangay Muntindilaw together with Hon. Gilberto Duavit (Representative 1992-2001). The land area of three barangays in Antipolo City (Barangay Mayamot, Barangay Mambugan and Barangay Dela Paz) was so vast thus they wanted the institution of another barangay. The two walked through the high area of Barangay Mambugan (present location of Cloud 9 Resort and Restaurant) and saw a golden rice field which was at the season of harvest at that time. While he was overseeing former Sitio Bulao of Barangay Mayamot, Hon. Daniel Garcia, then Mayor of Antipolo, said “There, there in that little yellow area we will establish a new barangay of Antipolo”.
Barangay Muntindilaw was popularly known as Bulao. This place was made up of fields where rice and vegetables were planted. At that tome, the barangay was known for its agriculture harvest such as rice, corn, watermelon, tomato, turnips, string beans, eggplant, sweet potato and peanuts. A river called Palanas was a famous destination of people from nearby rural areas because of its clear water which flows down from Hinulugang Taktak.
At present time, Barangay Muntindilaw has different establishments such as the Valley Golf and Country Club and the Dominican Monastery.
