Geographical Location
Nestled at the foothills of Sierra Madre Mountain, Barangay Calawis, Antipolo City is located within the bearing of fourteen degrees forty minutes, nineteen and seventy seconds (14 40’ 32.19.70”) latitude, and one hundred twenty one degrees, fourteen minutes thirty two and ninety seconds (121 14’ 32.90”) longtitude.
It is bounded on the North by the municipality of Rodriguez, Rizal, on the East by the province of Quezon, on the South by Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City and on the West by the town of San Mateo.
Since Barangay Calawis lies in the foothills of Sierra Madre, it has rugged mountain ranges from 1,000 to 1,200 meters above sea level. Rivers and stream abound throughout the Barangay, but the most popular is the Bunsuram Falls River, a part of Payaguan River, which is a major tourist attraction.

CIVIL STATUS DISTRIBUTION:
In view of the cool weather in the area and the absence of nightlife amenities, married population is higher than the single population. Majority of the population are young. Fifteen (15) years old and over start to get married earlier as compared to their counterparts in the urban areas.
DIALECT SPOKEN AT HOME:
Majority of the population speak Tagalog; other major dialects includes, Aklanon, Bicolano, Cebuano, Bisaya, Waray-waray and others.
IMMIGRATION:
The immigration in Barangay Calawis had been increased. It is already a progressive Barangay. There are many accomplishments and projects granted by the Local Government. NGO’s and Sanguniang Barangay, under the administration of Hon. Reynaldo O. Doroteo and his council.
RELIGION:
Nearly ¾ or 75% of the population are devout Catholics, Other religious congregation includes but not limited to, Iglesia ni Kristo, Protestant, Seventh Day Adventist, and others.
LABOR FORCE:
Productive age group is higher at abut 54% of the total population.Eigthy percent (80% of them are engaged in farming/agriculture. Some of the population’s labor force are engaged are engaged in Driving and Carpentry.
EDUCATION:
Barangay Calawis has Three (3) Elementary School. One of this in the Barangay proper, in Sitio Binayoyo and the other one is located at Sitio Apia.These Three schools have a combined enrollment of 799 school children and a total of 20 School Teachers. In addition, the Barangay has also one (1) Secondary School located at the center of the Barangay/Barangay Proper with 550 enrollees and 9 School Teachers. There are also, Four (4) Day Care Worker in Barangay Calawis, which composed of 150 (more or less) students.

Economic Activities

CROP MARKETING
Around 90% of the agricultural products are markete either in Antipolo City or in Markina City with travel time of more than or less than three (3) hours.
AGRICULTURE :
Barangay Calawis has an aggregate area of 9,114.30 hectares, Seventy-Five Percent (75%) of the Total Land Area are Forest Lands.These forest land can be found in the north eastern part of the barangay.
1. FARM INFUT – An average of 38.33 % households are buying animals feeds in the same places.
2. FIELDS – At an average of 2.7 lots per person are cultivated by the farmers of the Barangay.
3. POST-HARVEST FACILITIES – There are post-harvest facilities in the Barangay like, Warehouses and Dryers. But the Barangay does not have a Training Center or Bagsakan for their products.
4. COTTAGE and SMALL INDUSTRIES – Around 90% of the population are engaged incharcoal making, buying and selling farm products.
5. FORESTRY – The total forest reserves cover 75% of all the land area. Most of them are permanent reserve under the DENR protected area.
MINERAL RESOURCES – Calawis is very rich in mineral resources. Only limited exploration and extraction have been operating up to this time due to the existing laws prohibiting such activities in the watershed area.Preservation is favored over the mineral water deposit per Bureau of Mines available records, the following are estimated mineral deposits in the Barangay, to wit:

TRADE and INDUSTRIE:

HEALTH:
The Health situation of Barangay Calawis is considered generally satisfactory due to the monthly medical mission of private sector and the continued health continued health program of the government. There is only one Midwife assigned in the Barangay. To address the situation, The Sangguniang Barangay has organized Barangay Health Workers to attend to the simple medical/health needs of the Barangay people.
